This guide explains how to install and configure TeamViewer on your Windows server, which can be used as an alternative to Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for remote access, support, and file transfer between devices.
Installing TeamViewer on Windows
To begin, download and install TeamViewer on both your Windows VPS and local computer. TeamViewer is supported on all Windows operating systems offered with our Windows VPS plans.
- Visit the official TeamViewer website: https://www.teamviewer.com.
- Choose the Windows version and click "Download TeamViewer."
- Follow the prompts to save and run the setup file.
During installation:
- Select the option for unattended access under "How do you want to proceed?" This enables remote access without needing to confirm the connection each time.
- Click "Accept - finish" to complete the installation.
You will need to perform similar installation steps on your local computer if it also runs Windows OS.
Configuring TeamViewer
After installation, configure TeamViewer for unattended access to your Windows VPS, allowing you to access it remotely without needing to confirm the connection each time.
- Under Computer Name and Password, create a name and set a personal password, which will be used later for accessing your VPS.
- You will be prompted to add a TeamViewer account, which you can skip for now and set up later.
- After clicking “Next,” the TeamViewer main interface will automatically open.
In the main interface, you will see your Remote Control credentials, which you can use to access your VPS from another device. You can also set up your Partner ID for accessing another computer from your Windows VPS.
If the installation and configuration are successful, you should be able to access your VPS remotely using TeamViewer.
Please note that TeamViewer can only be used if there is an active RDP connection to your Windows VPS.
