Plesk is a commercial web hosting control panel that enables server administrators to manage websites, reseller accounts, email accounts, and DNS entries through a web-based interface.
Requirements:
Steps to Install Plesk:
Step 0:
Log in to your Windows VPS server via RDP.
Step 1:
Visit the official Plesk website and scroll down to the "Plesk Windows Installer" section. Download the installer.
Step 2A:
Run the installer.
Step 2B:
Open the Windows command prompt, navigate to the directory where you saved the installer, and run the following command:
plesk-installer.exe --web-interface
This command launches the installer. For testing the latest preview release (not recommended for production), use:
plesk-installer.exe --web-interface --tier testing
To install previous Plesk versions, use:
plesk-installer.exe --web-interface --all-versions
Step 3:
Choose your language settings and enter your login credentials. The default user is "Administrator," and the password is the one provided in your client area under service management. Use this same password for RDP access in step 0.
Step 4:
Click on "Install or Upgrade Product."
Step 5:
Select the Plesk product to install. If you opted for Step 2B, you can choose previous Plesk versions. Click "Continue."
Step 6:
Choose your installation type:
- Recommended: Installs all essential components for web hosting (e.g., web server, mail server, database server). If unsure, select this option.
- Full: Installs all available components and features but requires the most disk space.
- Custom: Allows you to manually select the components to install. This option is best suited for experienced users.
You can always add or remove components after installation.
Step 7:
If you choose the "Recommended" installation, you will need to customize the directory paths and set a password for the Plesk admin user (minimum of 4 characters, though we recommend at least 10 characters with a mix of capital letters and numbers).
Step 8:
Once confirmed, the installation will begin. It can take around 20 minutes or more, depending on the selected components. Feel free to make yourself some tea or coffee while you wait.
Step 9:
After installation, click "OK" to finish. You can now access the Plesk control panel either through the desktop application or by entering the following URL in the server browser:
https://localhost:8443/
